"The 1968 Camaro was the family car of Geurt and Janice Tilma, and was driven over much of the United States. Dr. Geurt Levi Tilma loved working on it and doing regular maintenance. In 1981, it was struck by a car while parked in front of our home on Altus Air Force Base, OK. Geurt then pursued his dream of restoring the Camaro at the base hobby shop. Our son Mark, who is active duty military, grew up always planning to restore the car with his dad, but life got in the way and it ended up being in storage for many years. Mark and Janice made the decision to have it restored after Geurt passed away four years ago. Its restoration was entrusted to Ramsey’s Rods. Janice visited the shop every week; watching the progress and taking pictures to send to Mark. When making decisions on the restoration process Mark and Janice always went to Stephen Ramsey to seek his advise. He and Geurt shared similar values and thoughts on cars, and by following his ideas Mark and Janice knew the Camaro was being restored in the spirit that Geurt would have wanted. The paint job with the ghost strip can only truly be appreciated by seeing it in person. The entire restoration staff thoughtfully created a special “Geurt Tilma Co-Pilot” medallion to put on the inside where a Camaro medallion would have been placed. In November the Camaro was shipped to Mark, who has been so anxious to have he and his dad’s dream car."
